Saturday Question: What Perfume Would You Wear As A Wedding Guest Today?

I planned to ask this question last week, but since I was traveling for the said occasion, my schedule got too hectic, and I didn’t even open my laptop to publish this SQ. But now I know the answer to my question without any hypothetical guessing.

Saturday Question #278:

What Perfume Would You Wear As A Wedding Guest Today?

Consider your current weather, what you would wear and any other imaginary circumstances of attending a wedding tomorrow and choose one of your favorites to scent that joyful event.

My Answer

Until the day I started packing for the trip, I was sure that I would be wearing one of my top 3 all-time favorites, Ormonde Jayne Ta’if. But at the last moment, I went with Armani Prive La Femme Bleue – a choice that felt as elegant as my navy-black gown and just as appropriate for the occasion.

I didn’t abandon my beloved Ta’if, though, and wore it to the rehearsal dinner, together with the brick rose/red silk blouse.

Perhaps it wasn’t me choosing perfumes at all, but my outfits whispering their own picks.

  1. It’s just over a year since my eldest son got married to his exceptionally beautiful bride. I wore Papillon Artisan Perfumer Epona. The perfect match for their ruined castle venue, set in the wild Yorkshire moors & my pale yellow, floral, embroidered dress.
Would I choose Epona for a wedding today? No, it belongs to Alex & Jodie’s ceremony.
For an autumn wedding I would choose something a little richer but still subtle. Just two spritz of Lyric Woman, 31 Rue Cambon or Papillon Dryad or Bengale Rouge would be perfect.

  2. I’d probably wear something both beautiful and ‘appropriate’-Chanel Gardenia. It would be in the spirit of the day and it’s just beautiful. Probably not that inventive. Years ago, when I was in my early 20’s, I made a terrible mistake, and wore a cream silk suit to a wedding. I didn’t know only the bride should be wearing colours like that. I bought I’d wear my best clothing, as a sign of respect but I had no idea. So now I like to play it safe lol.

    • Choosing a dress to wear wasn’t the easiest task either. No white or cream – OK, kind of clear. But what about golden or silver? Or red? Choosing perfume was a breeze compared :)

  3. Ah, you were in my time zone! I hope you had a wonderful time at the wedding. I haven’t been a wedding guest for a long time, but if I were to attend one tomorrow, I might wear Hermès Galop or the brighter Barénia. Or perhaps, like you, my outfit would decide!

    • It was a very nice wedding. And even weather cooperated! The rain ended by the time photo taking was scheduled and didn’t start again until much later.

Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to visit NY this time. But still, it was a good trip.

  4. Like Nose Prose, I haven’t been a guest at a wedding in a long time. At least since my own. Then I wore Boutonnière No. 7 by Arquiste. Today, I might still lean towards a white flower choice such as Gardenia by Santa Maria Novella for a spring/summer wedding. For a fall/winter wedding I might choose Sarrasins by Serge Lutens or perhaps Vanille by Mona di Orio.

I hope you had a wonderful time, Undina.

    • Boutonnière No. 7 seems extremely appropriate for a wedding!

Sarrasins has one of the most beautiful colors of the juice. Unfortunately, for me it was too much jasmine. I really wanted to love it (because of the color and the name). It will be interesting to test it again: I am sure it was reformulated a couple of time since I smelled it.

  5. for me would depend on the season. Hot summer outdoor wedding, Chanel Paris-Deauville. Winter – Ormonde Woman. Fall – maybe Alahine. Spring – a light floral. I don’t recall wearing perfume at my own wedding (this was before I was interested – so I don’t have any specific memories to attach to.
