Saturday Question: What 5 Perfumes Do You Look Forward To Wearing This Autumn?

Last several SQ topics were … not exactly negative but… So, I decided that we need a dose of positivity. In perfume form.

Saturday Question on Undina's Looking Glass

Saturday Question #133:

What 5 Perfumes Do You Look Forward To Wearing This Autumn?

It doesn’t have to be your Top 5, most favorite or any other such ranking. But if there are perfumes you plan to wear now, until it’s officially (or sensory) Winter, name five that first come to mind (or are carefully selected since, you know, whatever your choice would be, you’ll be held to it – just kidding).

My Answer

From my database, I got a list of perfumes that I wear more often. Then I went through it an marked those that I considered contenders – I got 20. Then I combed through the list once again. And here’s the results:

  1. Amouage Memoir Woman
  2. Chanel Le Lion
  3. Masque Milano Madeline
  4. Neela Vermeire Creations Trayee
  5. Tauer Perfumes PHI

I’ll probably use the remaining list to choose what to wear this month.

How about you?

    • I decided that I would take 1 perfume from each comment (if I have that perfume) and will wear it during this month in addition to those that I’ve chosen.
Cuir de Russie from your list.

  1. I don’t have a database, spreadsheet or record my wears in any other way. I tried to keep records on a few occasions & failed miserably. For me, keeping records sucked the joy of wearing perfume. Made it more like work, where accurate record keeping was paramount.
So, I’m checking my Fragrantica wardrobe to see what pushes the autumnal buttons

    Bottega Veneta EdP
    Lutens FdB
    Bottega Veneta Eau de Velours
    D&G Red Cap
    TF Plum Japonais

    Basically plums & apricots

    • I know what you mean! It got harder for me to keep tracking my use as well: my DB is on my home computer that I don’t turn on every day. So, I try to leave a note for myself on my phone. But then it takes a lot of time to transfer those notes to the main database. I need another solution! :)

I have nothing from your list! (But I tried 4 out of 5).

      • That’s a nice idea! Well, the ones I’ve actually worn in the 2 days since this question are Tom Ford Ombré Leather Parfum and Ormonde Jayne Montabaco, as these have become my default travel sprays to bring on trips where I don’t want to risk my perfume bothering anyone (although no guarantees).

        • I like Ombré Leather Parfum, and I bought it for my vSO recently. I don’t usually wear his perfumes, but I’ll see if I want to make an exception. Or at least I’ll have him to wear it.

  2. Excellent Saturday question, and I feel kind of positive-we had a hurricane last weekend-very unusual around here. Normally we get the tail end of the hurricane-so really warm temps, some wind, and changes in water but this time we got it all. I had no power for days and parts of this province are still out, a week later. The air after the storm was incredible-it was the greenest thing I’ve ever smelled. My white truck was covered in green leaves. It smelled like Syntetic Jungle, on steroids.

But fall favourites-Le Lion, which is too potent for me in the summer. Shalimar extract. Mona di Orio’s Suede de Suede. Goutal’s Mon Perfume Cherie, par Camille. Femme. Coromandel in EDT and I have a few samples of the EDP too. Lots of deeper scents, and some comfort and some spice. This will be six but I’ll mention Givenchy III too-I have a vintage bottle and I love it-it’s very elusive on me. The 70’s classics are a bit much for me-they tend to wear me, rather than the other way around. I should take another crack at Mystery while I’m at it-I love it, but it has such a rich history it can be too much on me. So now I’ve talked about seven and I better sign off or else I’ll just list my entire collection lol.

Hope everyone has a good week and I’m off to find an electrician to do a small repair on this place.

    Best regards,
    Carole

    • I’m glad that you’re alright now. Take care. Let’s hope it was the last unusual weather at your area this season.

I decided that I would take 1 perfume from each comment (if I have that perfume and it’s not on my list yet) and will wear it during this month. Le Lion is already on my list. We both will wear it.

  3. How to limit my list?? This is my favorite season in general, and it’s so nice to bring the cooler weather perfumes out. I’d have to choose:
Five o clock au Gingembre (wearing today!)
    Chergui
    Alahine
    Ormonde Woman
    SSS Champagne des Bois

  4. I wore Bois des Iles the other weekend – it is a winter staple, not that it is quite winter yet. Today I am wearing Piguet’s Calypso, donated by your good self, and the weather already feels right for that. To those I would add Dior Ambre Nuit, Caron Parfum Sacre, and Guerlain Bois d’Armenie, though I could have picked the five over and over again…

    • I love Calypso, too! I wore it again the other day. I have no idea why this line didn’t take right off-beautiful fragrances, and I love their chic black bottles.

  5. Great question. It’s kind of limiting so I’ll make this more hajusuuri-like:
    – Chanel anything as they are pretty much year-round fragrances for me
    – Serge Lutens as I have a good number up my sleeves
    – Slumberhouse works well in the Fall
    – LUSH sounds kind of strange for the Fall but I will say that I barely wore any in the summer and I find them more suitable for the every season except the summer. This will be a combination of perfumes and body sprays.
    – Anything indie – they do tend to work well in the Fall, i.e. too “heavy” for summer, most too “light” for winter although there are exceptions.

  6. I’m ready for fall scents. I’ll be wearing Bois des Iles, Chanel No5, Chergui, Five O’clock au Gigembre, Feminite du Bois, along with La Fille de Berlin. It will be a Lutens and Chanel October for me. I’ll wait until November and December for Alahine and Hermes Ambre de Narguile.

Bois des Iles from your list (Chergui will be in my December – otherwise I would have picked it).

  7. I’m mostly looking forward to working my way through some discovery sets I acquired over the summer, but I’ll definitely wear Ambre des Merveilles; VC&A’s Automne; Vol de Nuit; Chanel No 19 (a year-rounder for me); and Ormonde Woman and Privé.

    • I also need to go through multiple discovery sets. But I rarely wear perfumes from those, mostly testing.

I already added Ormonde Woman from another comment. But I’m thinking I’ll add Vol de Nuit from your list as well! (I’m sad I haven’t bought the extrait while it was still available).

  8. I pretty much wear everything in our collection throughout the year, including the heavy hitters with a heavy hand in the summer as they bloom beautifully on my dry, scent devouring skin in the heat and humidity. However, I can pick five that I would like to focus on this month: Daima, Ghroub, 31RC, L’Ether and Violette Vanille.

  9. Hey undina & Crew,
We have just had a cold snap again in Sydney. So here are 5 of the frags I wore.
    Divine EdP
    Le Galion Cologne Nocturne
    Hermès Caleche
    Penhaligon’s Belgravia Chypre
    Keiko Mecheri Olibanum

Comfortably cool is my favourite perfume weather.

    • I don’t think that I have even samples for any of your five. So, I’m sorry, but I won’t be able to add them to my “to wear” list. Please enjoy them for me :)

  10. It’s already mid-october, but perhaps you’ll find something on my list that you can still wear this month. October is the time of new wine and golden forests and rainy-sunny-days, so here goes:

    – Weinstrasse (Chatillon Lux)
    – Pine Forest (MGO Duftanker)
    – Young Hearts (Bruno Acampora)
    – Spell 125 (Papillon)
    – MEM (Bogue)

I don’t know why I like to wear the latter so much this time of wear, must be the warm and comforting strength of it, as lavender is not particularly autumnal. Or it’s just that I haven’t worn it in a long time.

I would also wear Burvuvu (January Scent Project) if I had it.

I will wear Memoir Woman from your list. Thanks for the reminder.
