Arancia Di Capri by Acqua di Parma: Blu Mediterraneo Series

Arancia Di Capri by Acqua di Parma: Blu Mediterraneo Series

Hey there ULGers, You are ensconced in your mid-summer heatwaves so I went looking through my samples for something suitable. Maybe, I thought, we could sniff something you may have forgotten. Then my eyes spied the glorious blue of Acqua di Parma Arancia Di Capri. The fragrance is turning 25 this year, that’s a really good run. Must be something wonderful in the bottle?

My sample came with an order from First in Fragrance a couple of years ago. I remember spritzing, liking enough to keep the sample and then it languished in a box.

Arancia Di Capri by Acqua di Parma: Blu Mediterraneo Series 1999

Arancia Di Capri by Acqua di Parma: Blu Mediterraneo Series 1999

Acqua Di Parma gives the gfeatured accords:
Top: Italian Sweet Orange, Italian Mandarin, Italian Lemon
Heart: Petit Grain, Cardamom
Base: Caramel, Musk

Bittersweet citrus and smooth greenery open up Arancia Di Capri. It’s a beautifully worked reissue of the old trope. Very cologne-ish and refreshing. There is an added extra of cool earthiness like walking through dappled shade in lightly wooded, well mulched parklands. This opening lasts much longer than expected and I really get to enjoy it before we move on.

As we enter the heart the citrus becomes more pithy and there is some warmth to the greenery, sawdusty woods. I keep thinking what a beautiful everyday spritz Arancia Di Capri would make. It’s fairly simple but lovely enough that a perfumista could easily wear it daily. What I really think it would be excellent for is both the younger and much older ends of the perfume wearing spectrum. Excellent gateway to more refined fragrance and also a good go-to for someone who wants to smell good but really doesn’t care about perfumes like we do.

When they noted caramel I was expecting it to have a really gourmand base but it’s not like that at all. More of a low key amber that rides underneath a vegetal musk. The citrus pith never truly leaves and longevity for this cologne style EdT is excellent.

Arancia Di Capri by Acqua di Parma: Blu Mediterraneo Series 1999 30ml

Another thing I love about many of the Acqua Di Parma range is that they come in five sizes. Choose from the very elegant 30ml travel pictured above to an enormous 180ml behemoth. There is also a beauty/bath range and ambient fragrance choices. You and your home can be top to bottom Arancia Di Capri. If I was a one scent kinda person this would be very alluring.

Sound good?

CHANEL Les Eaux De Chanel

CHANEL Les Eaux De Chanel

Hiya ULG crew, Time got away from me this week. I had even gone and purchased the newest Eaux, Paris – Paris, so we could chat about it. Yesterday got hijacked by Jin though and a whole bunch of stuff didn’t get done. This is not a complaint. Jin did overnight overtime both Saturday and Sunday this weekend. That’s two EXTRA 12 hour shifts for the week. Basically he worked 7 days straight. He got an ADO on Monday, yesterday. So though we had seen glimpses of each other over the weekend it wasn’t real time. Given yesterday we took it and did stuff together. We went to the Dr, had some bloodwork done, checked a problem and fixed it temporarily at the new investment apartment, did some shopping, cut up a slew of veggies and cooked pork and then sat companionably together producing and eating Vietnamese Rolls while watching TV. Then when he hit the hay I wrote my TRIVIA Q&A for the week and after finishing was completely bushed.

Though all this happened yesterday. It meant today I had to do the apartment cleaning and other stuff usually done on a Monday. Fortunately it’s raining so hard laundry is out of the question. Hopefully there will be some sunshine later in the week for that.

Here we are. I’m not going to lie. There’s a window of about 20 minutes before i have to start putting my make up on for work tonight. Instead of writing about Paris – Paris today I offer you this picture.

Are you wearing Les Eaux De Chanel if you are in the Northern Hemisphere? Did you even try them?

My take is that the bottles are gorgeous, the fragrances beautiful (if fleeting) and the whole concept is kept extremely affordable for a luxury/aspirational brand. It’s still not cheap but coming from CHANEL I was pleasantly surprised at the price point.

Have Les Eaux De Chanel made their way into your heart or collection?

Musette made me Jean Nate

Hey Crew, Do you ever read a blog post and suddenly your are pressing PayPal on your favourite online perfume store or discounter? Right, well not long ago over at Perfume Posse Musette waxed lyrical about Jean Nate. It’s always been her go to summer spritz after bathing but it had never been talked about so fulfillingly. Suddenly I had to know. So I bought a cheap 8oz after bath splash mist bottle off FragranceNet, seriously it cost about the price of a McDonalds burger. More recently Tom had a swoon over it too.

Fragrantica gives these featured accords:
Top: Lemon Bergamot Lavender
Heart: Geranium Spicy Notes Rose Jasmine Lily-of-the-Valley
Base: Musk Sandalwood Tonka Bean Virginia Cedar

So, after all this lead up, what does Jean Nate smell like?

A softly refreshing cologne. The spices and lavender give citrus a frosting of elegance. It’s nothing amazing or extraordinary but it is a pleasant, very short lived scent. I’m lucky to be able to smell it an hour later.

I’m not sure what note or accord it is but I get a definite smell of base humanity as an undercurrent. As if after showering you need to get those lived in, slightly feral aspects back onto your body ASAP.

As the northern hemisphere warms up it might be a good additive if your perfume wardrobe is without a bright, sparkling cologne. Much less zingy than 4711. Jean Nate is more sophisticated and deeper.

Have you tried Jean Nate or do you have memories of a wearer?

Aimez-Moi Comme Je Suis by Caron 2020

Hey Posse, Caron is owned by Cattleya Finance since 2018. It seems they have been taking stock and getting a feel for the company before launching anything new. It’s so interesting that they chose to market their first new outing to the boys. Needless to say, this is actually a unisex fragrance, it has facets from both major genders playing fields and melds them seamlessly. It could easily have been marketed to ALL genders. Interesting also that the name they chose has echoes of other Carons: N’Aimez Que Moi (1917) and Aimez-Moi (1996). The moment I read that this was coming I organised a split here in Australia and sent to Paris for two bottles. One I would keep and the other my very dear buddy Scotty would get, after we had split off the required amounts.
