Sunday Question: How Many Perfumes From The Luckyscent’s Best of 2024 Have You Tried?

Even though I rarely buy samples these days, and I definitely don’t buy full-priced full bottles, I keep my newsletter subscriptions for several perfume stores and brands. Not long ago, an email from Luckyscent caught my attention with the offering of a sample pack of their “Best of 2024” and I clicked on the link. The sample pack was sold out, but it provided a topic for this SQ. These are 15 Luckyscent’s Best of 2024 perfumes:

Jasmine Tea by ONE DAY
Wavechild by Room 1015
Brownie Pop by Maison Mataha
L’eau de Parfum by Cirque du Soleil
Mantes-la-Jolie by Astier de Villatte
Summer Hammer by Lorenzo Pazzaglia
Glow by AKRO
Jany by Sora Dora
Almond Tart by Theodoros Kalotinis
Manakara by Indult
White Rice by d’Annam
On a Cloud by J-Scent
Vanille Debauche by KYSE
Nota Vanilla by Ulyka Parfums
Coffee Addict by Theodoros Kalotinis

Saturday Question on Undina's Looking Glass

Saturday Question #250:

How Many Perfumes From The Luckyscent’s Best of 2024 Have You Tried?

Would you recommend to try any of those that you tried?

My Answer

I am almost glad that by the time I saw that list the sample pack was sold out because I was tempted to buy it. Not only have I not tried any of these 15 perfumes, but I heard only of 5 brands on that list, Room 1015, AKRO, Indult, J-Scent and KYSE, and tried something from the last three of them.

How about you?

  1. I’ve tried four. Glow is a boring vanilla, the like of which we’ve seen a million times before. Wavechild is an awful mix of sweet notes and marine facets. Coffee Addict is quite a nice coffee scent, but not sure I want to smell of coffee. Mantes-la-jolie is an excellent fresh herbal scent with mint, basil and eucalyptus. It smells like it would fit nicely into the Aqua Allegoria line or the Hermes Un Jardin collection.

  2. Theodoros Kalotinis Coffee Addict is the only one I’ve tried, have a FB of it AND is my SOTD (layered with TK Vanilla) for a no offense wearing. My sister and BIL and I went to a friend’s daughter’s first birthday party!

  3. I’m embarrassed to say that I’ve only tried one on your list, Jany by Sora Dora. It is a pleasantly sweet-gourmand, and quite likable. I’d probably buy some lovely pastry from a local bakery first. Not something I’d find myself wearing. I was very intrigued with the bottle design though. It’s quite stunning.

  4. I’ve tried only Coffee Addict. I did own a full bottle, bought in 2023. I sold in on in last years purge as it smelled of photorealistic fresh espresso.
How is it attributed to 2024? Is that when Luckyscent started stocking it?

  5. I have tried none of these, and I haven’t heard of these brands. I spent last year looking for things I tried, and really wanted. That list was long enough without looking for new things to love. There’s just too many new things to try-that includes makeup too. I Wanted to buy a lipstick that I love, and used up. The company doesn’t make it anymore. Lots and lots of new shiny things-just not the thing I was hoping for, which is a disappointment. Wish companies would leave their core collections alone, and then have seasonal options, rather than a whole new seasonal line.

  6. Only tried Coffee Addict, and I’ve had it for longer than a year, I think. It’s a decant and I’m not sure where I’ve put it so that I can remind myself what it’s like.

  7. I’ve tried Coffee Addict, Glow and Almond Tart. Glow was pleasant but not anything special at all. Almond Tart was OK, but not memorable. I love the realistic aspects w Coffee Addict, but it feels weird wearing it. I don’t really want to smell like Starbucks at 7 a.m.

  9. I’ll join the Coffee Addict train, as I’ve tried it. I wonder why that one got so much play? For me, it’s because I’ve been on a coffee scent kick the last year, and bought Xeroff Green Dallah, which is more gourmand than coffee on me. I remember liking Coffee Addict. I know I tried Glow but remember nothing about it, so, forgettable. I would like to try White Rice, but I fear I will be disappointed, as I always am when looking for a rice scent that is me. I did love D’Amman’s coffee scent, tough, Vietnamese Coffee. It was goooood!
