Since this year I tried less than 10 new releases, a Top N Perfumes of 2023 is out of question. From your responses to several of SQs, it looks like many of you are in a similar situation. So, let’s talk about our existing collections instead.
Saturday Question #196:
What Perfumes Did You Wear The Most Often in 2023?
I realize that many of you do not keep statistics, so the question is more about your perception. If you don’t know, tell us which of your favorites you think you wore the most. Name one, three, five – whatever you can think of.
My Answer
Knowing that many of my readers do not record their perfume use, I decided to guess my most worn perfumes. I came up with 7 perfumes. After that I ran a query in my database to find top 5 perfumes I wore in 2023. My guess was correct: the top 5 were among those that I selected initially:
- Ormonde Jayne Ta’if
- Giorgio Armani La Femme Bleue
- Amouage Dia
- Lancome Climat
- Amouage Ubar
I am pleased with this result because in the beginning of the year I was thinking about not keeping my most favorite perfumes just for the most festive occasions. In total, I wore my top 5 perfumes for the whole month.
How about you?

Probably been naked more often than scented due to DH & mum’s health.
I’m looking forward to wearing more perfumes in 2024

I know how it is. I also skipped a lot of time this year not to disturb Rusty since he isn’t feeling well.

I hope he’s in better health in 2024

Hey crew,
This year has been all about culling samples and decants so my bottles didn’t get much of a look in.
Just guessing here as I don’t keep a spreadsheet
Guerlain Shalimar in many iterations, Mitsouko and AA Nerolia Vetiver
Neela Vermeire Creations Rahele and Mohur
DIOR Granville, Patchouli Imperial and Vanilla Diorama
Hermès Eau des Merveilles Bleue
Gres Cabochard
are the ones I wore most from memory. They’re all on the grab tray and often get the spritz
Have a safe and wonderful NYE all.

Is it Rahele that may be getting d/ced?

Yeah, I forgot to ask Neela for an update when I saw her. Stay tuned.
I’ve bought two backups just in case.

Your determination with your samples/decants project was very impressive. Have you found any perfumes that you will be buying a FB after finishing a sample or decant?

Thanks Undina.
Yes, there is a list that might take me all of 2024 to fulfil

Neela Vermeire Ashoka, Mohur and Pichola. Via del Profumo Tasmeen. Hermès Osmanthus Yunnan. Dusita Fleur de Lalita. Best wishes for 2024!

I like both Ashoka and Pichola (Mohur is my least favorite, but I still wear it from time to time).

This is a total guess, but:
In winter:
Tom Ford Fleur de Chine (please bury me in this stuff)
Puredistance Warszawa
In warm weather, where I spend 75% of my year:
Fragonard Beau de Provence (for the fig)
Sana Jardin Berber Blonde
Parfums Dusita Moonlight in Changmai or Fleur de Lalita
Eau de Italie
Cochine Tuberose and Sandalwood (or any of the myriad of tuberose scents I own)

I LOVE Fleur de Chine! It is understated and elegant, which is hard to expect from the brand ;)

In that era when Fleur de Chine was released, I think their scents were much better. Before TF decided to become cute and precocious with the scent names, and mainstream with the scents.

It’s slightly different: I like TF’s perfumes, mostly older ones but some newer ones as well. But most of my favorite perfumes from the brand were on a “louder,” “bolder” side. And I liked it. But FdC is unexpectedly just elegant.

I would have to say samples as well. Sometimes I will be wearing two or three at once on any given day. Otherwise, I’m rotating through the other fragrances in my collection. Happy New Year!

It’s not too specific, but I guess it means that your rotation system distributes your perfume wearing perfectly :)

Because my collection is fairly large, there are only a few fragrances that get two or more wears within the year. Because I record the fragrance I’m wearing, I know exactly when I last wore it, and the fragrances that need some attention. Samples basically fill in the gaps.

Probably 4160 Tuesdays Clouds as it is a bit of a signature comfort scent for me and it’s been a rough end of the year since September, it’s gotten heavy rotation.

I’m sorry you’re going through the rough patch. And I’m glad you found perfume to comfort you (I wish I could to!). But let’s hope that whatever hardship you have in your life now will get resolved soon.

Masque Milano Ray-Flection topped the list because I was using up the bottle. Le Labo Santal 33 travel spray came next for the same reason. Ones I wore the most out of love were:
-Atelier Materi Cacao Porcelana
-4160Tuesdays Drive Them Wild
-strangelove meltmyheart
-Heeley Note de Yuzu
-Le Labo Ylang 49
Happy New Year!

You finished two bottles?!! (faints) :)
Are you going to replenish those two?
LikeLike
Well, one 35-mL bottle and one travel spray. 😉 Actually I finished a couple other travel sprays from Essential Parfums as well. I don’t plan to replace them, although never say never.

Cacao Porcelana is great! I have a sample, and it really got my attention with the first dab. It could be a full bottle one of these days, but this year, I wanted to nab some older Mugler perfumes, and so once again, I turned to the vintage and the discontinued and from the new and notable.

I just looked it up on Parfumo, they have a newish feature of most worn perfumes for the year, not only all times. So i most wore Scherrer, Roma, Fidji, Givenchy III and Aromatics Elixir. This clearly states that i am a chypre girl…..

Are you disciplined to record your daily wears there? It got harder for me to do it. But mostly because my database isn’t online, so I have to do it on my home computer, which I don’t use daily.

Happy New Year! All That Matters and Fresh White Musk were frequently reached for. Chance Eau Tendre I wore for an entire month straight and Cristalle EDT for three weeks straight

Christalle! What a beauty!
With your way of application, do you ever replace perfumes you finish?
LikeLike
Yes I do. In this case Fresh White Musk and Cristalle would be replaced

During the warmer months I wore Patricia de Nicolai’s fragrances Violette in Love, Riviera Verbena and Bois Belize often, and also Parfums de Rosine Rose Griotte. In the fall and winter I’ve worn Guerlain’s Spiriteuse Double Vanilla, Guerlain’s Angelique Noire, Christian Provenzano’s Iris d’Orient and Keiko Mecheri’s Damascena most often.

I was surprised to find that I wore SdV (from a decant) more often than many other perfumes this year.
Damascena is such a beautiful rose!

It was probably Cologne Officinale from Heeley. It’s one of 2 bottles I bought this year (The other was Parle Moi de Parfum Wake Up World). I sampled a lot more than usual though in 2023, so I was often wearing 2 or three things at once.

I almost miss those times when I constantly tested 2+ samples at a time.
Wake Up World sounds like a political statement. I hope it wasn’t meant as such – need to read more about it.

Great question!
Think I wore Coromandel EDT all through Nov and Dec. Once or twice was Le Lion. And through the year two colognes: the Chanel eau de Cologne, Eau d’hadrian EDT, and Guerlain Cedrat. I know people complain about the longevity of colognes but I love them, and they last on my skin.

Parfumo keeps my statistics. That tells me that in 2023 I have worn the following perfumes most often:
– L’Heure Bleue
– Ocean Rain
– Chevalier d’Orsay
– MEM
– Casablanca
I wouldn’t necessarily have guessed, but other favorites are close runners-up.
I tested around 20 new releases.
Happy New Year!

I had a couple of surprises in my stats, something I wouldn’t have guessed – not at the very top but the next level (and I bet I will be surprised when I find perfumes that didn’t get any rotation in 2023).
I’ve tried only the first and the last perfume on your list. Both are not “my perfumes.”

I don’t keep a careful track, but from memory and from looking at Fragrantica, the most worn were Angel Muse, Aura, La Vie Est Belle Iris Absolu, Cristalle edp and Samsara. I think I wore some type of Shalimar more than any other single perfume. I also recall Safari, Guerlain Musc Noble and Dune getting some regular attention.

Absolutely no idea, sorry! I really don’t think there have been any particular patterns. Am currently on a sandalwood kick, that is all I know. ;)
