I know that none of us needs any more perfumes. But it doesn’t stop us from trying new ones, right?
Saturday Question #117:
What Recent Release Are You Itching To Try?
Are there any recently released perfumes that have caught your interest, and you either plan to get to it at a store or maybe even buy a sample to try?
You may include any perfumes released in 2021-2022 that were on your “to try” list if you’ve recently scratched that itch.
My Answer
I keep missing the announcements of new releases (for better or worse), but two new releases got on my radar: one from a tiny niche house, Hera by Papillon Artisan Perfumes, and another one from the most well-known brand, Paris – Paris by Chanel (though, I still can’t believe they could not come with a more original name). I plan to get a sample of Hera from Luckyscent (how could I not after reading Tara’s (A bottled Rose) review and Vanessa’s (Bonkers About Perfume) review and then her response to my comment?!). And Chanel… I like that Les Eaux series, so I’m curious to try the newest addition. I went to a couple of stores already but none of them carries it yet. I’ll keep trying.
How about you?
Curious to try the entire Chanel Eaux series. I had the body wash of the Deauville which was a birthday gift from a friend but my middle one borrowed it and thunked it. I’m curious how it reads as a perfume. One of these years I will get into the city to try the entire series. But then there may be five more new releases added ;)

I think they all are very well made and are worth trying but definitely not to the extent of buying samples.

I had just one. I was so excited I actually put the release date in my reminder. It was, of course, Hera!
I now have a sample & Im saving for a full bottle. Hera is still the one I want & I may sell on some of my collection if I can’t save up quickly enough

One more vote to even further ignite my interest in Hera.

Lovely to hear you were inspired to try Hera after my review (and Vanessa’s). I hope you like it! Look forward to reading your thoughts at some point.

It reminds me of those good ol’ days when we all were getting excited by a new release. Feels good.

As I become more and more of a Chanel lover, I too want to try Paris – Paris. However, what I have read thus far on the interweb, it’s not getting a great deal of love. But one man’s poison is another man’s treasure…or something like that!

You never know. It might pleasantly surprise you now when your expectations are low.

Oh My YES! Dying to try Paris-Paris.
There’s a decant of Ebene Fume by Tom Ford on my desk that I’m waiting till I have the right moment top really enjoy it.
In the same Surrender To Chance order I got CREED Wind Flowers, Freddie’s 11 Candles in Antwerpen and Sucrabelle Beekeeper’s Daughter. There are others but these are the standouts I’m excited to try.

Hera, and I’ve ordered a sample from LS! I’ve tried Paris-Paris and liked it very much.

Now I want to try Paris-Paris even more! :)

It’s centered on rose, so of course I like it, lol. But I found it to be a very pretty, likeable rose; it would be excellent for daytime or office, or just any time you want a nice burst of high-quality roses.

Paris – Paris : I’ll try the body wash when it’s available. I know lots of people think it’s like washing your money right down the drain but I find the shower gels to be potent enough for my liking. And the new Hermes cologne, based on purple basil, with a gorgeous green bottle: I want to try this most of all. Even the colour of the bottle appeals to me. Now Smell This had a write up on it a few days ago.
Hope everyone has an awesome weekend: I’m going to Halifax to see the interactive Van Gogh exhibit :) I can’t wait – I’m excited for the exhibit and also just to be out of town will be a treat.

Carole, I too prefer the shower gels although I also have a bottle of Paris Venice. Oh since I thought the names were based on the train journeys. Isn’t PP then just a ride on the Metro?
While I am here will put in another vote for Hera. I only have a decant of Anubis but I like the house.

I like nice shower gels: sometimes it’s all I been/want. One of my favorites is Jo Malone Grapefruit Hand & Body Wash.

I want to try the new Dusita “Montri,” dedicated to Pissara’s father, who was a poet and his first name was Montri. Definitely want to try Hera, also. I have a bottle of the new Chanel “Paris” on its way to me and I will probably receive it next week. The personal shopper that hajusuuri and I both use got it for me in Paris. I’m buying things now while the exchange rate is very good with the Euro. Our Paris shopper is Suzan Becker. She lives in Charlotte, N.C. and goes to France pretty much once a month. Sometimes she also goes through London and can pick up things there also. She is on Instagram and on eBay as Shop France, Inc.

I know about Susan. She brought one of perfumes I was looking for for me from Paris once. But when a while ago I moved to a different email address, I lost my subscription to her newsletter and wasn’t able to restore it. I should try again.

I’m wanting to try Hera, Montri, Paris-Paris, Dancing Lights, Purple Suede, Arcadia and Rostracto. Plus the re-release of the Apoteker Tepe scents this month and La Fenice by Merchant of Venice. Far too long of a list for someone with my amount of perfume! But I’m sure I won’t love them all.

I just bought La Fenice by MOV and I’m really enjoying it! It’s a sort of floral gourmand, or gourmand floral. Very soft, smooth, well-blended, imho. The bottle is gorgeous.

How did you sample La Fenice, or did you buy it blind? I’ve had a bad track record with blind buys so I’m trying to cut back.

I bought it blind! But based on how much I liked Flower Fusion

I can’t wait for my sample of Zoologist’s newest release, Sacred Scarab by Sultan Pasha! I hope I’m not disappointed. I also really want to try Hera, as well as Montri by Dusita. I was kind of let down by Gallivant’s Dnask (very nice but not special enough to warrant another Amber purchase). Oh, and I just got samples of the four new Jorum Studio releases that I’m looking forward to sniffing since Euan’s work is always so unique. It never ends…. :-)

It’s funny: even though I’m not a Galivant fan, and you weren’t impressed by that perfume, mentioning that it was amber perfume caught my attention :)

Definitely Hera, but also the Papillon other incense one (forgot the name), April Aromatics Lost in Roses, a few Dusita’s, Perfume d’Empire Mal-Aimé. and I’m reading a lot of interesting things to try here, like Sultan Pasha whom I have a few lovely attars from. Great question!

I don’t remember what was the last perfume from Perfume d’Empire I’ve tried. I’m probably also curious to try their latest ones: I used to like the brand.

Matiere Premiere French Flower, Meo Fuschini Encore du Temps, the Amouage attars… Fortunately not too many! I used to get excited by notes lists and descriptions, but after some disappointments, I have to smell it first to be truly excited.

New Prada Infusion duet for sure. I already ordered a decant of Vanille to try it out.

Hera. But I have only recently seen how much it costs. So maybe I won’t even try it🙄

Am so sorry that following my spam attack on the blog today, I don’t even know what my response was to your comment(!), as I have lost all my comments going back over the past few months. I do recall saying that I was confident you would enjoy Hera, because of it being much more about the iris than the white flowers.
I must confess that I am not looking forward to sampling any recent releases because I don’t know what has come out lately! Very poor show for a perfume blogger, I know. ;)

I certainly have the following on my must try list.
Zero by Comme des Garçons

I haven’t even heard about any of the four! Curious about Houbigant’s one.

It does sound interesting. Doesn’t it, Undina? Houbigant is one of my favorites. I have no idea how I could survive without Fougère Royale. 😁
