CHANEL Les Eaux De Chanel

Hiya ULG crew, Time got away from me this week. I had even gone and purchased the newest Eaux, Paris – Paris, so we could chat about it. Yesterday got hijacked by Jin though and a whole bunch of stuff didn’t get done. This is not a complaint. Jin did overnight overtime both Saturday and Sunday this weekend. That’s two EXTRA 12 hour shifts for the week. Basically he worked 7 days straight. He got an ADO on Monday, yesterday. So though we had seen glimpses of each other over the weekend it wasn’t real time. Given yesterday we took it and did stuff together. We went to the Dr, had some bloodwork done, checked a problem and fixed it temporarily at the new investment apartment, did some shopping, cut up a slew of veggies and cooked pork and then sat companionably together producing and eating Vietnamese Rolls while watching TV. Then when he hit the hay I wrote my TRIVIA Q&A for the week and after finishing was completely bushed.

Though all this happened yesterday. It meant today I had to do the apartment cleaning and other stuff usually done on a Monday. Fortunately it’s raining so hard laundry is out of the question. Hopefully there will be some sunshine later in the week for that.

Here we are. I’m not going to lie. There’s a window of about 20 minutes before i have to start putting my make up on for work tonight. Instead of writing about Paris – Paris today I offer you this picture.

Are you wearing Les Eaux De Chanel if you are in the Northern Hemisphere? Did you even try them?

My take is that the bottles are gorgeous, the fragrances beautiful (if fleeting) and the whole concept is kept extremely affordable for a luxury/aspirational brand. It’s still not cheap but coming from CHANEL I was pleasantly surprised at the price point.

Have Les Eaux De Chanel made their way into your heart or collection?

  1. Unfortunately any of this line that I’ve tried disappeared from my skin in minutes so for me it’s a pass. There seems to be a lot of love and noise about them though. I’ll be sticking with the old reliables. You’ve been getting some deluges there, will any reservoirs see the benefit of this or are the floods just wreaking havoc?

    • Hey Cassieflower,
Yeah, fortunately I get over an hour, sometimes two. A cologne pick me up rather than a days fragrance.
Don’t know about our reservoirs but quite a few areas of Sydney are under water again. We are high and dry so far.

  2. I only own the Venise one. Being a more spice/amber, for me it has a little more oomph! Than the rest of the range. I’m delighted to see you also own it as it seems to get less love from the fragrance blogosphere than the others.

  3. I bought the Paris Biarritz body wash, and I love it. Some days it’s all I wear for scent. I find it doesn’t really work well as shampoo for me, but I love having the same fragrance all over. I didn’t want to add another bottle of fragrance to my collection, so the body wash was a good choice for me.

Glad the investment place is going well, even if it needs small repairs. Hope Jin paces himself at work :)

And I loved your answer to the Saturday question, Portia. Your mom sounds like a really beautiful person.

    • Hey Carole,
YAY! for body products. CHANEL Has always done them so well. Interesting that the lifespan of the body wash is better than the EdT! Ha! Life is funny, eh?

All the places need repairs and we try to get to them all within the week of knowing. Not always possible.
Currently I’m also helping out a mate who is in Singapore but her tenants took EVERYTHING when they moved out. Carpets, vertical blinds, kitchen cupboard doors!! Thank everything she is insured.

Mum was a tough nut with many layers. She was gorgeous. I was lucky to have her.

      • Tenants can be cruel. I work for my family’s business-we sell home heat. one night a tenant at my uncle’s called: said they’re out of fuel. I said you can’t be-but they were. So I dispatched a truck and we went to see what was wrong. They had opened all the windows in January (winter) to use up all the oil, and they were going to do it again. Said they wanted to screw the landlord. So I had to break it to them-he was my uncle lol.

Relationships are never ever easy, are they ??? :)

And if it’s not too personal, did your mom love fragrances, too?

  4. Tried them all, nothing really worked for me, but then I’m not a Chanel girl, I’ll take Guerlain any day over Chanel.

  5. I have Deauville and Riviera. Deauville was the one I chose after trying all of the first release. Riviera was a gift. I enjoy them both this time of year. Wish they lasted longer but I just spray more! Not running to add more to my collection, haven’t sniffed the Paris version yet. I do think I enjoy them because they are distinctly Chanel, but so easy to wear.

    • Hiya MMKinPA,
Riviera is so different to the first three releases. It took me a while to get it. There’s a tomato leaf vibe behind the top notes, once I realised it SWOON!
Yes, they are CHANEL and also super easy spritz and go.
I’m thinking it would be fab if they released a set of them all in 10 or 20ml bottles for travel. I’d buy that in a heartbeat.

  6. I got to sniff Paris-Paris at Nordstrom a few days ago. The roses! Looking forward to reading your take on it. Paris-Édimbourg is still my favorite of Les Eaux, maybe because it seems the most different, at least to me because I’m less familiar with fragrances featuring a juniper note.

    • Can I tell you a secret Nose Prose? When I bought Paris – Edimbourg they didn’t have a tester and I still haven’t opened it. Yes, I’m a crazy completionist.
Roses in a cologne style. Perfect! Paris – Paris will probably be wearable in all weathers.

  7. I like them! Edinbourg smells more masculine to me, so I’ll probably give my decant to my husband or son. I like the first three very much, and I liked the sample of Paris-Paris I tried in duty-free, in May. I don’t know that I would buy entire bottles, though.

    • OH, you are infinitely more sensible than I. Though also, I tend to get decants and spray them to write about. Then they lie forgotten in the decant box I’m currently filling. Once that full box goes on the pile it only gets reopened if I’m seriously looking for something.
The Les Eaux De Chanel collection got some wear, even in our wet summer just gone. So I’m happy with that.

  8. I have both Paris-Venise and Paris-Riviera. I also ended up getting the shower gel and lotion in Paris-Venise. I don’t mind that they aren’t terribly long lasting since the bottles are generously sized so I can reapply.

  9. I think I have tried the first few in this line and I can’t say any of them blew me away, though they were certainly pleasant, especially the neroli? one – Deauville? Except for the one that was too musky? Venise? I am forever having issues with musk, hehe. You can see by all the question marks that they didn’t make that much of an impact or I would be able to remember their names.

    • Vanessa, you are hilarious.
Yes, they are not incredibly groundbreaking and are also quite simple for the price. To my nose they are beautifully put together and very pretty summer pick me ups. It’s easy to understand any long term perfumista being bored by them and dismissing the from mind quickly.
