Saturday Question: What Spring Perfumes Do You Look Forward To Wearing?

I remember that I promised to share more details on the operation “Moms’ Evacuation,” but I’m still dealing with too much to finish the story – I will. Meanwhile, let’s talk perfumes – shall we?

Saturday Question on Undina's Looking Glass

Saturday Question #106:

What Spring Perfumes Do You Look Forward To Wearing?

I know that it’s not Spring yet in many places. But it is getting warmer, and you can feel at least a promise of Spring. Unless you’re in the different hemisphere – then you’ll have to wait a little bit longer.

Are there any perfumes that you rarely wear in different seasons but enjoy wearing specifically in Spring?

My Answer

Our weather suddenly went haywire: it was quite warm for the last week or so (21C/69F), so we were in our Spring already; tomorrow it promises to be much cooler (13C/56F); and by Tuesday they promise almost summer (24C/76F). I was preoccupied with… life, so I missed the change of the season. And now suddenly I realized that I might not get that much time to wear all those perfumes that I love wearing specifically in Spring.

Chanel No 19 extrait and EdT – both are Spring perfume for me. I can wear them all-year-round but usually don’t.

Guerlain Chamade extrait is also one of those that I prefer wearing that time of the year.

Sonoma Scent Studio Wood Violet smells great on my skin in Spring, and I almost dislike it in all other seasons.

  1. I really look forward to wearing my Spring perfumes
I wore Chamade extrait yesterday in the beautiful cigarette case. I’ve also been wearing Diroella a lot. Soon ill be spraying Chanel 19 parfum/edt and Dryad by Papillon. I love green perfumes.

It’s going to get up to 18C/64F here on Tuesday which is warm for us at this time of year.

I hope things calm down for you soon.

  2. Love your pic, dear Undina. We’re heading for autumn/fall here in Johannesburg, but as the city generally has warm weather during the day in the cooler months, I still wear sunshine-y scents.

  3. I have a bunch of perfumes that I associate with spring – Goutal Grand Amour and La Violette, Apres l’Ondee, Hiris, Iris Rebelle, SSS Wood Violet and Voile de Violette. Everything violet and iris comes out, and some of the lighter roses may get a turn.

  4. The perfume I only wear in Spring is Annick Goutal Eau de Camille. The other ones I wear often but especially in Spring…Mito and no 19, and Moon Bloom.

  5. Diorissimo, Ostara, Jour d’Hermes, Brin de Reglisse, Apres l’Ondee and Vilhelm A Lilac a Day are the ones that I usually wear only in springtime unless I crave for any of them on a particular day in a different season.

  6. Right now, I’m enjoying wearing my greenest perfumes: No. 19, Dryad, Silences, Cristalle, etc. Also the ones that evoke spring flowers, like Ostara, Chamade, JM’s Blue Hyacinth. Later in the spring is muguet season; as many of you know, I truly love my muguet fragrances and I own MANY of them. I have a couple of samples or decants of new ones, which I plan to review in May! Late spring is also when I lean toward iris scents, partly because that is when iris bloom in my garden and neighborhood. Tiffany & Co. and its flankers come to mind; also Laboratorio Olfattivo’s Nirmal. I also tend to wear 4160 Tuesdays’ Meet Me On The Corner more in the spring and into summer; it’s a citrusy chypre.

  7. Hope you’re doing ok Undina and keeping body and soul together. Spring has definitely sprung here this week, lots of sun and blue skies, 14°C today. I don’t really wear perfume according to seasons. It depends on whatever I fancy on any given day. Had a day in Caleche Soie which could be kinda springy then veered off onto Tauer Amber Flush body oil today (suitable on my legs for yoga). No rules really.

    • I’m trying to keep it together. I hope it will get easier one day (hopefully soon).
I don’t have strict rules when it comes to perfumes, but some of them just feel more appropriate for the weather or environment.

  8. I’m starting to bring in the greens. No 19 EdT, Cristalle EdT, Sisley Eau de Campagne & Eau de Soir, AG Eau d’Hadrien, vintages of Miss Dior, Choc de Cardin & Givenchy III. Vintage & early 2000’s Diorellas will be out in a month or so.
When I want something “prettier” I’ll go for Floris Madonna of the Almonds, Aerin Lilac Path & Penhaligon’s Bluebell. Bluebell used to be green but it’s now warmer & more blossomy (and bosomy).
My reality is that I don’t rotate my fragrances but reach for what I fancy. I admit that as the sun gets higher I fancy greens

  9. I don’t think seasonally about perfumes, nor too much that perfumes are seasonal. But I like to read and think about how others do: lots of Chamade fans here. I’ve come to think of Tocadilly and Champs Elysees as perfumes that I revisit for Spring. Ostara and its beautiful package of course invite a Spring wearing, too.

  10. I haven’t been choosing perfumes by season, although I suppose I start gravitating toward florals as the temps get warmer. This past week I’ve still been wearing heavier scents than I normally do, namely Maison Crivelli Hibiscus Mahajad and Hiram Green Hyde, mostly to use up those samples. They’ve also been kind of an olfactory equivalent to the increased amount of work that’s been piled over me. Reading this thread has inspired me to start wearing more green perfumes.

  11. Love my spring perfumes, but the spring feels too short to wear them all… Loads of lilac perfumes, and some lotv. Jean Patou Vacance, chamade, parure, lillia bella, Angelique lilas, jo malone white lilac and rhubarb, diorissimo…. I’m sure there are more. Most of these only work on warm sunny spring days, and usually there aren’t too many of those.

  12. In spring i like to wear Covet, Scherrer EdT, No19 and Niki de Saint Phalle. Plus a bunch of other chypres from my collection.I am not so much of an amber person, so even in winter i depend more on darker chypres, vanilla or incense scents.

  13. I see there’s lots of love for Chamade for spring. I need to add it to my collection. I’ll be wearing some mimosa scents, Jo Malone’s Mimosa & Cardamom is a spring favorite, and Swan Princess, along with some of my iris fragrances. I’ve been wearing Christian Provenzano’s Iris d’Orient and my beloved McQueen My Queen. It’s very springlike, I think. Also wearing Van Cleef’s California Reverie with lovely orange blossom.

  15. Spring weather in Chicago is usually like an uncontrollable yoyo. Once it warms up a bit, I can’t wait to dive into something more fresh and green and retire the warm and wonderful for a while.

I would say my favorite spring go to is Trèfle Pur by Atelier Cologne. It’s such a pleasure to wear. I also love Cannabis Santal by Fresh. I enjoy the commentary I receive when people ask “What’s that amazing fragrance you’re wearing.” It’s always a humorous exchange.

  16. It is supposed to snow here tomorrow but I have chosen to leave winter behind. Yesterday I cleared away all the winter scents off my perfume shelf and brought out the boxes of spring fragrances. I was so happy to see their beautiful pastel juice colors again. Go going forward, it will be citruses, beachy, ginger, fig, light florals, and green themed fragrances. A lot of Aqua Allegoria, L’Occitane, Dame, Jo Malone, Simone Andreoli, Ellis Brooklyn, Pacifica, Floral Street, Hilde Soliani, Ligne St. Barth, CSP, Lili Bermuda, and the like.

  17. I am glad you are taking some comfort from perfumes, though I know the situation is still horribly fraught and uncertain.

I was going to say Chamade in fact before I read the post itself! Ostara is a good choice though I don’t have it. I would love Mimosa pour Moi at this time, if I had that. I seem to have all the wrong perfumes. ;)
